Season 21/22 is coming to an end

June 19, 2022

As the current theatre season is coming to an end I’ve finally sat down to update this digital home of mine.
You can find an overview of the upcoming season in calendar!

Though I didn’t have that many productions, due to post pandemic uncertainties mostly, it has been an intense season with a lot of work. May would have been my month of rest, recouperation and preparation but instead I got covid. I guess it was unavoidable even with all possible precautions, I’m travelling around a lot after all. I had to cancel a performance of Messiah, unfortunately but I’m healthy again, it all went well, so I’m thankful anyhow.

I have one performance of, the seemingly never ending, very popular, production, Städtchen drumherum and one open air concert before the theatre holidays start mid July. But until then, we are hiding from the heat, in the basement of the theatre where the rehearsal stage is situated, rehearsing Don Giovanni intensely, which will premiere at Oct 9th. It’ll be the first opera premiere of the upcoming season.

I am very much looking forward to sing Donna Elvira!

With Städtchen drumherum, Das kleine ich bin ich and Vogelsang.Insektenklang there have been many children’s performances this season. I hope we contribute to children’s interest in culture and the audience of the future that way!

This season was also a good season for Compagnia Nuova, we covered a big part of Germany, touring with La traviata.

A vocal and artistic highlight was Dulcinée in Don Quichotte of course, but also the work and concerts with Le Pecore, an ensemble which has taken a consistent form this season, from a more fluid state last season. The possibility to return to Boulanger’s Faust et Hélène, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and made my mezzo heart rejoice greatly. It was fun too, to get the possibility to tie up loose ends of #CultureContinued with the world premiere of Pandora ist tot
But, to have gotten such fantastic possibilities to delve into Alma Schindler-Mahler’s music and life, was really something unexpected and very artistically and vocally valuable.

For those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram I’ve embedded some snapshots from professional highlights this spring:
