La traviata

October 24, 2020

Covid-19 keeps challenging us, indeed. Due to the rising numbers of infections the theatres in Germany once again have to reduce their already very limited amount of sold tickets per performance. Locally as far down as to 50 tickets per performance no matter the size of the hall. Reacting quickly to how the infection spreads, these changes have to be implemented almost over night. So far there has been no reported spreading among theatre audience what so ever, thankfully.

The observant reader and follower will recognise, and possibly remember, my cooperation with the young opera company Compagnia nuova through their production of La traviata in Como, 2019.

In these days it seems that either people work more than a lot or not at all, depending on the circumstances. Compagnia Nuova were on short notice asked to take over some performance dates which a bigger production couldn’t accept due to the restrictions. Hard work has been put into creating a safe concept, overcoming covid-related challenges, restyling the set design and doing some musical adjustments in order to make the performances possible under the current demands.

An opera about wanting to live, even if life restricts us in different ways –What could possibly be more appropriate in this time? La traviata, directed by Silvia de Stefano is coming to the Schweinfurt theatre

When?
